Grok Bot Review (2026): What It Does Well and Where It Falls Short
Quick answer: Grok Bot, SpaceXAI's beta AI teammate launched August 11, 2026, is a strong option for repetitive work across web apps: each Bot runs on its own persistent cloud computer, signs into your apps like a person, runs routines on a schedule and keeps going after you close your laptop. Since August 26 it starts at $20/month via Cursor Pro or $30 via SuperGrok. The weak spots: it's still a beta, weekly allowances are unpublished, on-demand usage has no spend cap yet, Bots can misread scope, and there's no WhatsApp or SMS. Good for web-heavy operators; overkill for reminders and follow-ups.

Reminders that actually fire. Follow-ups Sonic sends for you and reports back. PDFs, contracts and invoices summarized in seconds. Your Google Calendar handled by text, and group chats that run themselves. Voice notes welcome. Nothing to install, nothing to learn: message Sonic like any contact. Try “Remind me to call the accountant every Monday at 9.” Leave your details and you’ll get Sonic’s number right away.
Grok Bot review: what's the verdict?
Grok Bot is the most practical of the new cloud agents for people whose work lives in browser tabs, and since August 26 it's tied with Meta Muse for the cheapest paid entry. It's still a beta, though, and the billing is harder to predict than the $20 price tag suggests.
A word on how this review works. Grok Bot has been out for seven weeks, and we haven't put it through months of hands-on testing. This is a review of what SpaceXAI has shipped and documented, the pricing and platform changes since launch, and the limitations that are already known. Where SpaceXAI hasn't published something, we say so rather than fill the gap.
The short version: if you spend hours a week moving information between web tools, Grok Bot is worth trying, and the one-time trial makes that cheap. If what you want is someone to remind you, chase people and read the documents that land in your WhatsApp, it's the wrong shape of tool, and we'll get to what fits better at the end.
What is Grok Bot and how does it work?
Grok Bot is SpaceXAI's agent product, pitched as "AI teammates". Each Bot is a durable teammate with a name and a defined job, powered by Grok 4.6 and running on its own persistent cloud computer with a browser and terminal. SpaceXAI is the company behind Grok, and since SpaceX bought Cursor's parent Anysphere in June 2026, Cursor is part of the same company.
The big idea is that a Bot works the way a person at a computer does. It signs into your websites and apps with your real logins, through their normal interfaces rather than APIs. You connect accounts such as Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive), Slack, Notion, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, GitHub, Jira, Figma, HubSpot or Canva. When a site asks for a password, passkey, two-factor code or CAPTCHA, you step in.
From there, the Bot keeps context between tasks, runs multi-step work in the background and keeps going after you close your laptop. Routines let a Bot run on a schedule or when something happens. Several Bots can run at once and share what they know. SpaceXAI's own internal examples are telling: overnight sales research, expense receipts pulled out of email, and bug fixes.
You manage your Bots from the desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, from iOS, and, since September 2, 2026, from Android. Access comes bundled with SuperGrok or Cursor plans; there's no standalone subscription and nothing on free Grok.
What does Grok Bot do well?
Its biggest strength is persistence. A Bot has its own cloud computer, so it doesn't stop when your laptop sleeps or your browser tab closes. For work like overnight research or processing a week of receipts, that's the difference between a helpful chatbot and something that actually finishes the job.
Signing in like a person is the second win. Most automation tools need an integration for every app, and small businesses rarely have the time or budget to build them. A Bot that can log into the same web tools you use, with your logins, covers the long tail of admin panels, supplier portals and dashboards that no integration list will ever reach.
Routines and parallel Bots turn it into a small team. One Bot can pull leads each night while another tidies the CRM and a third handles a weekly report, and they share what they learn. That's a genuinely different way of working from typing prompts into a chat box.
And the price finally makes sense for individuals. On August 26, SpaceXAI opened Grok Bot to every SuperGrok ($30) and Cursor Pro ($20) subscriber. At launch the cheapest route was $120 a seat, and for most individuals it was $200 or $300 a month. Add the Android app on September 2 and Grok Bot went from a premium experiment to something a freelancer can try for the price of a lunch. Bot usage is also separate from your Grok chat and Cursor editor quota, so it won't eat into what you already pay for.

- +From $20/month since Aug 26; Android since Sept 2
- +Approval gates for sending, publishing, buying, transfers and deletes
- −Still a beta
- −Weekly allowances unpublished
- −On-demand usage billed by token cost, no spend cap yet
- −Can hallucinate or misread scope
- −Broad access to your real accounts
- −No WhatsApp or SMS; built around desktop workflows
Where does Grok Bot fall short?
The weak spots are mostly about trust and predictability, not raw ability. Start with the obvious one: Grok Bot is a beta, seven weeks old, and Bots can hallucinate or misunderstand the scope of a task. An agent that misreads scope inside your real accounts is a different risk from a chatbot that gets a fact wrong.
Billing is the second problem. Every eligible plan includes a weekly Bot allowance, but SpaceXAI hasn't published the numbers, or how much more you get on $300 than on $20. Eligible accounts can add on-demand usage billed by model and token cost, and there's no Grok Bot-specific spend cap yet. A busy routine can run up costs you won't see until the bill arrives. Our Grok Bot price guide has practical ways to avoid that.
Third, access. A Bot that signs in with your real logins can do whatever you can do in those accounts. You can require approval before a Bot sends a message, publishes, makes a purchase, transfers funds or deletes something, and SpaceXAI's "Auto Review" is in limited rollout. But those gates only help if you set them. Grok Bot also requires cloud data storage and isn't compatible with Cursor's Legacy Privacy Mode, which rules it out for teams that depend on that mode.
Finally, where it lives. You message your Bot from the Grok or Cursor apps. There's no WhatsApp channel and no SMS, and the whole product is built around desktop workflows: browsers, terminals, SaaS dashboards. That suits a developer or an operations lead. It's a poor fit for a plumber, a clinic manager or a real estate agent whose working day happens in WhatsApp on a phone.
Grok Bot scorecard: how does it rate?
Here's our overall rating by category, based on what SpaceXAI has shipped and documented so far. These are qualitative judgments, not lab test scores; we haven't run a benchmark and we won't pretend to.
The pattern is clear. Grok Bot scores well on what it can do and where you can get it, and poorly on how predictable it is. That's typical for a beta agent, and it's the part most likely to improve as SpaceXAI publishes allowances and ships a spend cap.

Grok Bot vs dots and Muse: how does it compare?
Grok Bot sits between OpenAI's dots and Meta's Muse. It's more hands-on and cheaper than dots, and more work-oriented than Muse.
OpenAI dots, launched today (September 29, 2026), also give each agent its own cloud computer and browser, plus 4,000+ app connections and a proactive research mode. But they start at $100 a month on ChatGPT Pro, Pro users in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK are excluded at launch, and you reach your dot in ChatGPT, Slack or Microsoft Teams. Dots are the richer package for heavy knowledge work, at five times Grok Bot's entry price.
Meta Muse is aimed at everyday errands like bookings, emails and shopping. It has a free tier (with a card on file), then $20 and $100 plans, and it's the only one of the three with a WhatsApp chat. But it's available only in the US and Canada, and Amazon has blocked it from shopping on Amazon.
Grok Bot's edge is price plus reach: $20 to start and no published regional restrictions. Its gap is that it's the most desktop-shaped of the three, with no messaging-app channel at all.
| Grok Bot | OpenAI dots | Meta Muse | |

Who should use Grok Bot, and who should skip it?
Use Grok Bot if your pain is repetitive work across web tools. Think a small agency owner who spends Monday mornings pulling numbers from three dashboards into one report, an e-commerce operator reconciling orders between a store admin and a spreadsheet, or a developer who wants a Bot on bug triage in GitHub and Jira. If you already pay for Cursor Pro or SuperGrok, you may have it already; try it.
Use it carefully if you're a small business owner curious about agents. Start with the one-time trial, turn on approvals for anything that sends, pays or deletes, and pick one job where a mistake is annoying rather than expensive.
Skip it if your team relies on Cursor's Legacy Privacy Mode, if you can't tolerate open-ended token bills, or if you mostly work from your phone. And skip it if your real problem is follow-through rather than data entry: the call you meant to return, the invoice you meant to chase, the group you meant to remind. A cloud computer with a terminal is the wrong tool for that, however cheap it gets.
If you're still weighing options, our Grok Bot alternatives guide compares the other agents side by side.
What's the better fit if you run your day from WhatsApp?
For the skip group, the better fit is an assistant that lives where your work already happens. Agent Sonic is a personal AI assistant that works entirely inside WhatsApp. No app to install, no desktop setup, no dashboard. You save it as a contact and message it.
It's built for follow-through. "Remind me to call the accountant every Monday at 9" sets a recurring reminder. "Message Dana and ask if the deposit came in, then tell me what she says" sends the message and reports back. In your team group, "Every Friday at 3pm, remind everyone to log their hours" runs itself. Forward an invoice and ask "Anything here that doesn't match last month?" and Sonic reads it and answers.
It also keeps to-dos, notes and a persistent memory, searches the web live, creates and edits images, handles voice notes in and out, and works with Google Calendar, Sheets and Docs. It writes naturally in your language, including Hebrew and Arabic.
The honest comparison: Sonic doesn't make purchases, doesn't run a cloud computer for hours of autonomous research or coding, has nowhere near Grok Bot's reach into web apps and isn't in Slack or Teams. If you need a Bot grinding through dashboards overnight, Grok Bot is the better choice. If you need nothing to slip through the cracks in the chats you already live in, Sonic is. Frequently asked questions
Is Grok Bot worth it?
It's worth trying if you do repetitive, multi-step work across web apps, especially now that it starts at $20 a month via Cursor Pro or $30 via SuperGrok. It's less worth it if you need predictable costs, since weekly allowances are unpublished and on-demand usage has no spend cap yet.
What are Grok Bot's biggest weaknesses?
It's a beta, and Bots can hallucinate or misunderstand the scope of a task. Allowances are unpublished, on-demand usage has no spend cap, it needs broad access to your real accounts, it isn't compatible with Cursor's Legacy Privacy Mode, and it has no WhatsApp or SMS channel.
Is Grok Bot good for small businesses?
For small businesses with lots of web-based admin, such as reports, CRM updates or receipt processing, it can save real time. Start with the one-time trial and approvals switched on. If most of your work runs through WhatsApp chats and phone calls, a desktop-first agent is a harder fit.
Grok Bot vs OpenAI dots: which is better?
Dots offer 4,000+ app connections, proactive research and Slack or Teams access, but start at $100 a month and exclude Pro users in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK at launch. Grok Bot starts at $20 and has no published regional restrictions. For most individuals, Grok Bot is the cheaper way to try a cloud agent.
Is Grok Bot safe to use?
It can be used safely if you set it up carefully. You can require approval before a Bot sends messages, publishes, purchases, transfers funds or deletes, and you enter passwords, passkeys and 2FA codes yourself. But it signs in with your real logins and can misread scope, so start with low-stakes tasks.
Does Grok Bot work on Android?
Yes, since September 2, 2026. Grok Bot also runs on the desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux and on iOS. You message your Bot from the phone or desktop app; there's no WhatsApp or SMS channel.
Have you tested Grok Bot hands-on?
Not in extended testing. This review is based on what SpaceXAI has shipped and documented, the pricing and platform changes since the August 11 launch, and its known limitations. That's why our scorecard uses qualitative ratings instead of test scores.
What's a simpler alternative to Grok Bot for WhatsApp users?
Agent Sonic is a personal AI assistant inside WhatsApp that handles reminders, follow-ups with other people, group reminders, notes, document reading and Google Calendar, Sheets and Docs. It doesn't run a cloud computer or shop for you. Get access at tryagentsonic.com/contact.
