Meta Muse Review (2026): What It Does Well and Where It Falls Short
Quick answer: Meta Muse is the most capable consumer AI agent so far for planning and errands: it books, fills forms, emails and shops on your behalf, asks before anything sensitive, and works in its own app and in WhatsApp. Early hands-on tests found it strong at planning-heavy tasks but patchy at shopping — Amazon blocks it, and some sites still need you to finish by hand. It's US-first, free with a card on file, then $20 or $100 a month. Great for US users who want errands done; overkill if you mainly need reminders and follow-ups.

Meta Muse review: the verdict up front
Muse is Meta's first personal AI agent, launched on September 8, 2026. It's been a genuine hit: about 2.8 million downloads in its first two weeks, and it overtook ChatGPT as the top free app in the US and Canada.
The short verdict: Muse is the most ambitious consumer agent yet, and it's genuinely useful for planning and errands. It's also clearly early. It does best when a task is mostly research, planning and communication, and it stumbles when a website doesn't want a bot on it.
This review pulls together what Meta has confirmed, what early hands-on testers found, and where Muse fits against the alternatives — so you can decide whether it's worth setting up.
What Meta Muse is and how it works
Muse is an agent, not a chatbot. You message it like a person — in the Muse app, on the web at muse.ai, on Mac or directly in WhatsApp — and it goes off and does the work. It's powered by Meta's Muse Spark model and runs inside its own cloud computer with its own browser, which Meta calls Muse Secure VM.
Because it has its own machine, Muse can keep going after you close the app. You can even give your agent a name; CNN's reviewer called hers Pip, and a little animated avatar shows when it's busy.
Muse also plugs into Meta's world and a growing list of partners. Meta says it can turn a saved Instagram recipe reel into a shopping list, and it has signed deals with Shopify, Instacart, Expedia, PayPal, Stripe and Ticketmaster so it can find and complete purchases.
What Muse does well
Planning. This is where early testers were most impressed. In CNN's hands-on, Muse booked a Friday date night, built a day-by-day packing schedule for a move, and suggested practical tips like keeping a first-night bag with essentials.
Coordinating by email. After connecting Google apps, the reviewer asked Muse to email a friend about a trip. When the friend replied, Muse turned her restaurant ideas into a planning document. That's the kind of back-and-forth that normally eats an evening.
Staying in control. Muse asks before sending emails or buying things, shows an audit trail of what it did and plans to do, and keeps logins in a store the agent itself can't read. At checkout it uses one-time card numbers through Stripe's Link.
Being where you are. Working inside WhatsApp is a real advantage. For many people, 'open another app' is where good intentions die.
- +Strong at planning and multi-step errands
- +Emails and coordinates with approval
- +Audit trail and one-time card numbers
- +Works in its own app and in WhatsApp
- +Keeps working after you close the app
- −US-first availability
- −Card required even for the free tier
- −Amazon and some sites block it
- −Some tasks still need you to finish by hand
- −Wants broad access to email, calendar and payments
Where Muse still falls short
Shopping isn't smooth yet. Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping on its site, citing security and user experience — though Muse can still find Amazon product links through search. On Target's site, CNN's reviewer still had to type in personal details herself.
Some promises are narrower in practice. Meta lists negotiating with sellers as a Muse skill. In the CNN test, Muse said it couldn't message a seller directly; it vetted the listings and drafted a message for the reviewer to send. Meta says Muse can negotiate within parameters the user sets, so results may depend on the site and setup.
Availability. Muse is rolling out in the US first, and it asks for a payment card even on the free tier. If you're outside the US, there's nothing to review yet.
Scope of access. Muse is most useful when it can reach your email, calendar and payments. Meta's safeguards are solid, but that's still a lot to hand one company — and it's the main reason some people will hold off.
Pricing and availability
Muse is free up to a usage limit, with a card required to start. Power costs $20 a month and Maximum $100 a month for heavier use.
It's available in the US through iOS and Android apps, muse.ai, Mac and WhatsApp, and Meta says it's coming to its AI glasses. There's no firm date yet for other countries.
For comparison, ChatGPT Plus is also $20 a month and available almost everywhere — but it's a thinking tool first, not an errand agent, and it's no longer available inside WhatsApp since Meta closed the WhatsApp Business API to general-purpose chatbots in January 2026.

Who Muse is for (and who should wait)
Muse is for you if you're in the US, you do a lot of planning and online errands, and you're comfortable connecting email, calendar and payments to get time back. Start on the free tier with planning tasks, then add purchases once you trust it.
Wait if you're outside the US, if giving Meta your inbox and card doesn't sit right, or if your stores of choice block agents.
Look elsewhere if your real problem is follow-through, not errands. Most people's week isn't lost to booking flights. It's lost to small repeated things: calls you meant to make, invoices you meant to chase, group chats you meant to remind.
The alternative for everyday WhatsApp admin
That follow-through gap is exactly what Agent Sonic is built for. It lives entirely inside WhatsApp — no app, no dashboard — and handles the repeating work: 'Remind me to call the accountant every Monday at 9', 'Every Thursday at 4, remind the team group to send timesheets', 'Ask Dana if the contract is signed and tell me what she says.'
It keeps persistent memory, reads the PDFs, contracts, invoices and spreadsheets you forward, searches the web, creates and edits images, and connects to Google Calendar, Sheets and Docs. It doesn't shop for you, and it doesn't need your card or inbox to be useful.
If Muse is the assistant you send on errands, Sonic is the one that makes sure nothing slips. Get access at tryagentsonic.com/contact.
