Plan: Basic & Pro · Setup time: 1 minute
Step by step
- Add Sonic to your WhatsApp group, the way you'd add any contact.
- Mention it with your request: “@Sonic what did I miss?” or “@Sonic summarize today”.
- Name a time window if you like: “the last 3 hours”, “since yesterday”, “this week”.
- Ask follow-ups: “what did we decide about the venue?”, “who's bringing what?”
What Sonic can do
- Summarize the group's conversation for a window of up to 5 days.
- Pull out decisions, open questions and action items with names.
- Answer in the language you ask in, even when the chat mixes languages.
- Catch you up since you last wrote in the group.
What it can't do (yet)
- See messages from before it joined the group — add it before you need it.
- Summarize more than about 300 messages or 5 days in one go — ask for a shorter window in very busy groups.
- Read photos, voice notes or files in the recap — on Pro, reply to one and mention Sonic to ask about it.
Try asking
- “@Sonic what did I miss?”
- “@Sonic summarize the last 3 hours in 5 bullets.”
- “@Sonic what did we decide this week, and who owns what?”
- “@Sonic סכם לי מה היה היום בקבוצה”
Questions
Can WhatsApp summarize group chats?
With Agent Sonic in the group, anyone can mention it and get a summary of a time window they choose — plus the decisions and action items — right in the chat.
Does everyone in the group need a subscription?
No. One subscribed member unlocks Sonic for the whole group, and every member can mention it. New groups also get a free trial allowance.
Does Sonic read every message?
Sonic answers only when someone mentions it or replies to it. It keeps the group's messages so it can answer with context — that's how recaps work — and never shares one group's chat in another group or chat.
