Plan: Pro · Setup time: 1 minute
Step by step
- Open your chat with Sonic on WhatsApp.
- Send the file — a PDF, an Excel file (.xlsx), or a .txt, .csv, .md or .html file. A photo of a page works too.
- Ask what you need: “Summarize this”, “What's the total?”, “What are the cancellation terms?”
- Ask follow-up questions without sending the file again — Sonic remembers it for a few hours.
What Sonic can do
- Summarize long documents, contracts and reports.
- Pull out totals, dates, names and terms from invoices and receipts.
- Read scanned or photographed PDFs.
- Compare up to 5 files sent together.
- In a group on Pro: reply to a shared document, mention Sonic, and ask about it.
What it can't do (yet)
- Keep files forever — it remembers a file for a few hours, so ask it to save the details you'll need later.
- Replace legal or financial advice — use it to understand a document, not to sign off on it.
- Open Word files (.docx) yet — send a PDF instead.
Try asking
- “Summarize this contract in 5 bullet points.”
- “What's the total and the due date on this invoice?”
- “Is there an early-termination fee?”
- “Put these receipts into a table.”
Questions
Can WhatsApp summarize a PDF?
WhatsApp itself doesn't read documents, but you can send the PDF to Agent Sonic on WhatsApp and ask for a summary or a specific answer. It works with scanned PDFs too.
Which files can Sonic read?
PDFs (including scanned ones), Excel files (.xlsx), and .txt, .csv, .md and .html files, plus photos of documents. Up to 5 files at a time.
Are my documents stored?
Sonic keeps a sent file for a few hours so you can ask follow-up questions, then it's gone. Ask it to note the details you'll need later.
