Connect Outlook or Hotmail to WhatsApp: read, search and send email

Link your Outlook once by signing in with Microsoft — no app password, no setup — then just ask Sonic in the chat: “any new mail from Dana?”, “summarize my unread emails”, “reply that Thursday works”. Sonic shows you every draft and sends only after you say yes.

Plan: Free trial, Basic & Pro · Setup time: 1 minute

Step by step

  1. In your private chat with Sonic — on WhatsApp or in the Sonic app — send /mail connect outlook, or just say “connect my Outlook”.
  2. Open the link Sonic sends. The page shows which Sonic account your mailbox will be linked to; tap “Continue to Microsoft”.
  3. Sign in with your Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live or Microsoft 365 account and tap “Accept”.
  4. Sonic confirms in the same chat: “✅ Outlook connected”. In the Sonic app you can also connect from Settings → Email → “Sign in with Microsoft”.

What Sonic can do

  • Search your mail with Outlook's search: by sender, recipient, subject, date or attachments, plus unread mail, the inbox or sent mail.
  • Read and summarize an email or a thread, and tell you what the sender needs from you.
  • Send you an email's attachments right here in the chat, as files with their original names (up to 25 MB each).
  • Watch your inbox for you: "tell me when Oren replies" — Sonic checks every 15 minutes (every 5 if you ask) and messages you a short summary as soon as it arrives.
  • Write a new email, or a reply in the same thread, from your own address. It shows up in your Sent Items like any email you send.
  • Show you the recipients, subject and full text first, and send only after you confirm, unless you explicitly tell Sonic to send it right away.
  • Leave your inbox as it was: reading an email doesn't mark it as read, and Junk and Deleted Items stay out of searches.

What it can't do (yet)

  • Send anything without your OK, or act on instructions written inside an email.
  • Read what's inside an attachment, or attach files to an email it sends.
  • Work in WhatsApp groups. Your email stays in your private chat.
  • Connect a work or school Microsoft 365 account whose organization lets only its IT admin approve new apps, until the admin approves Agent Sonic. Personal Outlook, Hotmail and Live accounts work.
  • Connect a Microsoft account made with another provider's address (like a Gmail address): it has no Outlook mailbox. Connect Gmail itself instead.
  • Link Outlook and Gmail at the same time. Each account has one mailbox; connecting one replaces the other.
  • Stay active after a free trial ends. Outlook works on the trial, Basic and Pro; when the trial is over, the connection pauses until you subscribe.

Try asking

  • “Any new mail from Dana this week?”
  • “Summarize my unread emails.”
  • “Find the invoice from Acme and tell me the total.”
  • “Send me the PDF from Acme's last email.”
  • “Tell me as soon as Gil answers my email.”
  • “Reply to Yossi that Thursday at 10 works.”
  • “Email the landlord that I'll transfer the rent tomorrow.”

Commands

  • /mail — connection status and setup steps
  • /mail connect outlook — a Microsoft sign-in link to link your Outlook (private chat only)
  • /mail disconnect — remove the connection. Works any time, even after your plan ends

Questions

Does Sonic see my Microsoft password?

No. You sign in on Microsoft's own page, and Sonic only receives permission to read and send your mail, which you can remove any time. There's no app password to create.

Which accounts work?

Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live and MSN addresses, and work or school Microsoft 365 mailboxes. Some organizations need their IT admin to approve Agent Sonic first.

Is my email stored?

No. Sonic reads your mail live when you ask and doesn't keep copies. Only your email address and Microsoft's access grant are stored, encrypted. Chat messages, including Sonic's answers, are kept like any chat.

Will Sonic send emails on its own?

No. Every email is shown to you in full first (recipients, subject and text) and sent only after you say yes.

How do I disconnect?

Send /mail disconnect in your private chat. It works any time, even if your plan ended. To remove Agent Sonic from your Microsoft account too, open account.live.com/consent/Manage (work accounts: myapps.microsoft.com).

Microsoft says “Need admin approval”.

Your organization lets only its IT admin approve new apps. Ask them to approve Agent Sonic, or connect a personal Outlook account.
